To say fly fiishing has been slow so far this year is an understatement. The unusual wet spring had most all of my regular streams out of their banks. The weather was so bad that I had to cancel one or two of my spring trips. Add to that a couple of family medical events and I found more time spent at home than out fishing. Hopefully that will change in the near future but unitl my knee mends, I'll still be taking it kind of easy. Moral of the story...growing old sucks!

Then too, since I’m always on the hunt for new fly fishing partners, I think I found one. He’s my grandson and while he’s only four, he shows enthusiasm, drive and interest. I hope I’m still around to enjoy time with him on the stream when he matures. Until that happens I'll continue to search for others who share my passion for the sport and can spend some valuable time on the stream.

Quittie 1-8-2026

Cabin Fever compelled me to get out of the house. Took a ride to the Quittie just to have a look around. Didn't even get the rod out but what I saw will be worth another visit after the Spring stocking

Project Healing Waters 12-1-2025

Not a fishing outing...exactly. This group is a Veteran Assistance Program that uses fly fishing and all its facets to help veterans. I was immediately impressed with the program and will try to provide any assistance I can in any capacity that I can. This session topic was fly tying.

Clark Creek 11-5-2025

Gary and I spent a couple hours on Clark. I'm not sure why I keep going back. Maybe just hoping for improvement but no, this stream has turned to trash. Tanic water, no flows and trees clogging the stream. What a waste of time. A once beautiful stream has been allowed to go to pot. Thanks Fish Commission.
