It's hard to predict how the fishing season will go this year. The last gasp of winter and the hint of Spring gives me intense optimism. Spent a lot of time at the vise this winter and I have a few new patterns to try. Already have reservaions made to hit my favorite haunts but I'll just have to wait for a few weeks and see how the weather and water turn out. Still believe the same old saying:

Growing old sucks!

I’m always on the hunt for new fly fishing partners andI think I found one. He’s my grandson and while he’s only four, he shows enthusiasm, drive and interest. I hope I’m still around to enjoy time with him on the stream when he matures. Until that happens I'll continue to search for others who share my passion for the sport and can spend some valuable time on the stream.

Little Juniata 5-19 thru 5-22-2026

Couple of days on the Little J. Weather was Hot, Hot, Hot. Low 90's. The water temp at the Barree bridge was crawling over 70 degrees. Yet, no shortage of fishermen trying to catch and maybe kill trout. Probably the least pleasurable of my trips to this location.

Big Poe 4-27 thru 4-29-2026

This was supposed to be a Penns Creek trip but it turned out to be a Big Poe trip. Oh well, I'll hit Penns another time. Weather was pretty decent, cool and a bit windy but other wise nice. Saw some of Penns that I had not seen before and visited the Feathered Hook, that's a plus.

Spring Creek 5-4 thru 5-7-2026

Not the best trip to Spring Creek. No shortage of fishermen but the fish werent cooperating, at least not for me. Caught a couple but no many. Weather was not cooperating either, 25-30 mph winds and rain made catching a bit tough. That said the water was perfect, just a little color and levels were ideal.
